SavingStar Reaches 500,000 Users Faster Than Groupon, Twitter and Foursquare; Company Reveals New Insights on Grocery Shopping Habits

Waltham, MA (PRWEB) July 26, 2011

SavingStar, the only national paperless grocery coupon service, announced it reached 500,000 users 3 months after the service went live. SavingStar reached the milestone faster than Groupon which took 6 months, Foursquare which took 1 year, and Twitter which took 550 days.

Launched in April, SavingStar provides exclusive eCoupons for use at over 24,000 stores from more than 100 supermarket and drugstore chains nationwide. The eCoupons are linked to users? store loyalty cards with nothing to clip or print.

?Shoppers are clearly looking to save on groceries,? said David Rochon, cofounder and CEO of SavingStar. ?But even more importantly, they are looking to do so easily, without the hassle of using paper coupons. It doesn?t get any easier than clicking eCoupons online or activating them on your smartphone with a few taps. ?

SavingStar also revealed new insights into how people shop and use coupons. Analyzing purchase data over the course of a year, SavingStar found that 55% of all shoppers buy less than 100 different products per year, while 70% buy less than 200, showing the challenge brands face when trying to get consumers to try their products. Surprisingly, 4% of people actually buy over 1000 different products per year!

A survey of 500 primary household shoppers conducted by Sentient Decision Science on behalf of SavingStar reveals that it?s not just moms who value coupons – men and younger shoppers are looking to save as well. Respondents also said that grocery coupons not only help them save a significant amount of money each month, but help spur trials of new products:

79% of men think grocery coupons are an important way to save money
70% of shoppers under 35 want grocery coupons on their smartphones
Consumers with household income over $ 100k, save an average of $ 150 per month with grocery coupons
Since the start of the recession, shoppers #1 way to save on groceries is through coupons, beating other choices like buying private label, shopping at discount stores, and buying fewer items
85% of shoppers will try a new product if they have a coupon for it

Energy Saving Lights – You Too Can Help Save the Planet

Article by Energy Saving Man

With the industrial revolution, and population booms reaching levels higher than ever seen, humans are consuming the earth’s natural resources faster than ever. We are essentially killing our planet. There are many ways that each of us can help out and reverse this cycle, and the first steps to saving the planet begin at home. What better way to start than the use of energy saving bulbs in your home and office. These lights, also known as CFL bulbs, can drastically reduce your carbon footprint, save you money, and help save the environment as well.

Top 3 Reasons to Use Energy Saving Lights in your home and help save the environment.

1. Energy saving lights simply last longer.

It is a simple fact that CFL bulbs last longer than standard incandescent bulbs, about 10x longer to be exact. CFL bulbs usually have a rated lifespan of between 6,000 and 15,000 hours, whereas standard incandescent lamps are usually manufactured to have a lifespan of 750 hours or 1,000 hours. Wouldn’t that be nice to only have to replace your energy saving lights once every 8-10 years?

2. Energy saving lights reduce your monthly electric bill.

Energy saving lights use approximately 75% less energy and last about 10x longer than standard incandescent bulbs. If you replaced 20 incandescent light bulbs in your home with energy saving lights, the cost savings would be about 00 over the lifecycle of the energy saving lights.

3. Energy saving lights reduce your carbon footprint.

Going back to our above example, if you replaced 20 incandescent light bulbs in your home with energy saving lights, you could save 13,860 pounds of harmful carbon dioxide from entering our atmosphere throughout the bulb lifecycle. That’s the equivalent of taking a car off the road, and adding almost 1.5 acres of forest to the planet.

Every time a light bulb in my home goes out, I am in process of replacing it with a new CFL bulb, as I feel that it is my responsibility as a member of this planet to do my part in contributing to saving the environment. In the long run, it’s going to save me a bit of money as well. It is time for each and every one of us to do our part and keep the earth a clean place for us, our children, and our grandchildren. This is the quickest and easiest way to start, so let’s all start now and get to replacing those incandescent bulbs with energy saving light bulbs.

This is a definite step in the right direction for each and every one of us to go green and help save the environment.
